The Runaway Pumpkin Half Marathon held on Saturday,
October 29 at Cheadle Lake Park in Lebanon was a hit with
everyone involved, according to feedback received from
a runner and volunteer survey. This event is projected to net between $37-40,000 to support services for local abused children.
More than 700 runners and 150 volunteers were involved. The majority of runners came from the Willamette Valley, but many traveled from other states including California, Washington and Colorado.
The Top Three Finishers in the Men’s category were:
1. Matt Ingalls, Newberg, first place, 1:13.30;
2. Rocky Wing, Salem, second place, 1:13.51;
3. Jonathan Sipling, Portland, third place, 1:17.32.
Rachel Niehuus, Berkeley, CA came in First Place for women with a 1:21.15. Julie Leasure, Portland, was second place with 1:22.29. Stephanie Henstrom, Portland, came in third place with a 1:31.53. For more results go to www.ecleticedgeracing.com
First place runners received a $250 gift card from Lowes, second and third place runners received a gift basket donated by either Oregon Freeze Dry or Allann Brothers. The top three finishers in 15 different age categories 5 years apart were honored with a Top Finisher Pub Glass.
