Keeping Children Safe in the Digital Age

This training includes an OPTIONAL tour of our new ABC House! The tour is scheduled from 8:30-9:30am. The training is scheduled from 9:30-11:30am. If you do not plan on attending the tour, you may join us at 9:30am for the training. Thank you!

This presentation educates and empowers parents and adults to keep children safe in the digital age.

Social media, video games, movies, music and other forms of media and technology are addressed. The presentation highlights current digital trends and teaches parents how to proactively participate in their children’s social media experience, how to communicate effectively with children of all ages regarding online safety, and how to utilize parental controls and additional protection measures to keep kids safe online.  Some additional topics covered include: screen time, appropriate ages for social media/video games, internet addiction in children, online pornography, cyber bullying and online predators.

The presentation additionally teaches youth serving professionals how to work with children effectively, relating to technology and digital trends.

Resources for having positive, proactive conversations with children of all ages regarding online safety are shared, in addition to instructions for setting up parental controls on devices and using filtering/monitoring software to minimize children’s exposure to unsafe individuals and explicit, violent and/or adult content.
